Born and raised in Oregon, Yuri has lived many lives and had many different jobs. After 14 years of living on Mount Hood and working on a Ski Patrol team while also doing hospice work with the most difficult clients, he tried his hand at Organic Biodynamic farming. He decided those jobs just weren’t hard enough, and eventually found himself on the coast learning how to dive in the Tillamook Bay, and crab in the Ocean.

He bought a wooden dory boat and got to work, learning the ropes (actually they are called “lines” when you are on a boat) and stubbornly becoming the best at what he does.

But fishing has always been in his blood and Yuri has been hiking deep into the wilderness on the hunt for salmon since he was a kid. His family is from Ukraine and Russia which means the great outdoors and rough terrain has always made Yuri come alive.

When he is not busting his buns on the ocean or living underwater, he is out finding the best ski lines in a secret back-country spot. He is almost always thinking about weather patterns and when the next snow is coming to the mountains.
